COMMUNITY POLICING GRADUATION CEREMONY MWANZA TANZANIA - 2012

On the 9th of September 2012 Mwanza City saw its first COMMUNITY POLICING graduation.
The Ceremony took place at CCM Kirumba Stadium being attended by Hon. Patrick Damas the Assistant Regional Traffic Officer of Mwanza City as the Guest of Honor. The Friends of Law and Justice Organisation of Tanzania (FLAJO) attended the ceremony by an invitation from the Mwanza City Community Policing Commissioer Hon. Bundara Mtobwa as an appreciation for the 4 day workshop which the organisation had conducted in the course of community policing training from the 7th to 10th August 2012 at Isenyi Primary School Grounds, the workshop covered "Road Safety" and "Understanding of the Constitution of United Republic of Tanzania" as given conducted by the Assistant Secretary of FLAJO Miss Mbando Emeline and Francis Elias the National Director.
On the ceremony the organisation was represented by its National Director Mr. Francis Elias and its Legal Officer Kagaruki Jackson, the Ceremony included the following:
A Martial Arts combating skills technique was demonstrated by the graduants when the ceremony started. it was amazing how well they were trained and had mastered the art.
Then the graduants gave a speech to the esteemed guest of honor and other guests, and among other things they acknowledged the workshop provided by FLAJO during their training.
Having read it the graduants handed the speech to the Guest of Honor (at the center in Police Uniform with a stick).
The Chairman of the Mwanza city Commercial Bikers Association Hon.  also gave a speech to the guest of honor and other guests
The Guest of Honor replied to the speeches with a number of pointers including the fact that the COMMUNITY POLICING force is meant to strengthen the relationship between the Police Force and the Community in combating crimes hence the graduants should not misuse the power vested in them.
After the speech then came the Certification; where every graduant was given a certificate of completion of the training showing that he/she had graduated and had became a Community Policing Officer.

The Gurst of Honour had an early Departure form the ceremony due to a call of duty, even so; the National Director of FLAJO managed to to get an up close chat.

A number of happy faces posed for the Group Picture as the ceremony ended soon after all had received their certificates and taken lunch.
