HELP THE HELPLESS

We live in a world where an acute need for mutual love, care and cooperation is so demanding in our communities. Every member of the community must be a benefactor to another person. We need to live as children of one father. We all need to live as children of one father, we all need each other. Today, there are compelling social forces to restructure the social Organisation of our communities hence negative setting. There is a world outcry on the classes growing rapidly in most of the conservative capitalist societies. class-struggles therefore is the most dangerous drama ever existed all to say in the history of developing countries best known as the "Third World Countries".
It could be a lie to say Africa is the poorest continent in the world. Vice-Versa Africa by all means is not an economically poor continent in the world. It is the world's most gigantic economic continent. It has everything needed to be a Gigantic Economic continent. It has everything including Good People, Rich soils, Wonderful friends (neighbors). But it is not a disputable fact that Africa is behind in everything in the world.
I am positively driven by the spirit of change for the way we think as African people, we should have constructive thoughts for a change, we should adopt a more strategic approach to the resurrection of our communities, the people have money, technology and leadership inside them we should not change them rather we should learn to share them.
We should think about the less privileged young people, the potentials of leadership, economy management and technological development are hidden in them and are lost because they are not developed by the community. Our future depends on these young energetic minds, the only price we must pay for them to realize their potential is to educate, train and lead them in the right direction. The young minds get lost everyday in the realm of street life, they do not get proper food, shelter, and sometimes even clothing. various factors have lead to their situations including poverty, family violence to mention only a few.
We kindly ask you to make a decision to invest what you have in other people's lives, invest your harvest in the restoration of a dying generation. life has got nothing in these worldly materials. What if you can make one person a hope of the entire nation tomorrow. Put a smile on an ever-sad face of a young girl/boy who has faced the harsh side of life from a very young age, something which no one deserves. This is a call for the Community to donate for the under privileged youngsters in our nations, they can be changed from the drug abuse and harsh street lives through our efforts and donations.
At FLAJO we believe that of all the special groups existing in the community the most important is the group of Children. This is so because children form the future of the community, without children the Human generation can not move forward.
A Child is a person who is under the age of 18 years Old. This definition is in accordance to the International Organizations from its various instruments, The Regional Organizations from its different Instruments and the Tanzania Law of the Child.
We believe that children are the most vulnerable group in the community and thus it must be protected at all costs, however in Tanzania, Children still face many problems that threaten their lives especially in rural areas. Children living in rural areas are seriously affected by poverty and adequate social services, like lack of water, poor schools, and inadequate resources for health and nutrition. Moreover children are victims of violence, Child labor, prostitution, diseases, malnutrition, torture and cruelty, corporal punishment, and lack of maintenance.We therefore find that the world has fought so hard to protect the rights of children in many aspects as follows:
 LABOUR: The ILO is the international organization responsible for drawing up and overseeing international labour standards. It is the only 'tripartite' United Nations agency that brings together representatives of governments, employers and workers to jointly shape policies and programmes promoting Decent Work for all. This unique arrangement gives the ILO an edge in incorporating 'real world' knowledge about employment and work.
The ILO provided that "The minimum age for admission to any type of employment or work which by its nature or the circumstances in which it is carried out is likely to jeopardize the health, safety or morals of young persons shall not be less than 18 years" as provided in Article 3 (1) of the Minimum Age Convention (1973). The ILO provides that Child Labour should be in accordance with the ILO terms which provides that a child should not be employed in the Worst Form of Employment which as provided in the Worst Forms of Child Labour Convention, 1999 (No. 182) includes:

  • (a) all forms of slavery or practices similar to slavery, such as the sale and trafficking of children, debt bondage and serfdom and forced or compulsory labour, including forced or compulsory recruitment of children for use in armed conflict;
  • (b) the use, procuring or offering of a child for prostitution, for the production of pornography or for pornographic performances;
  • (c) the use, procuring or offering of a child for illicit activities, in particular for the production and trafficking of drugs as defined in the relevant international treaties;
  • (d) work which, by its nature or the circumstances in which it is carried out, is likely to harm the health, safety or morals of children.
HEALTH: This is a vital sector for the welfare of the Child, it covers physical as well as mental conditions of the Child. With a good physical and mental health a child grows to be a good productive citizen directly invloved in the National GDP and GNP of the country, this is due to the fact that an adult whose growth was of healthy environment will always maintain that healthy environment. In Tanzania we implement the Health Policy 1990 which has established a good hierarchical structure to the provision of health services, from which many Village dispensaries have been built and still the health services are on the minimal level due to the fact that the hospitals are not furnished with enough equipments, attendants and even medications. The Health Service was meant for reduction of Infant Mortality rate.
FOOD: Food is important for the survival of human beings, this is the main reason that cause children to engage in labour. The abundance of food to children will enable them to concentrate in their education. Most Tanzanian children work only to obtain enough for their stomachs because they are not in the Formal Employments. Thus we should work hard to maintain food, and health services of a normal quality whilst removing them from the worst forms of employment as done by The National Director of FLAJO Mr. Francis Elias who works hand in hand with Children Ministry at LAKE-VIEW CHURCH Malimbe-Nyegezi, Mwanza, from his work he was able to remove many children form the streets of Mwanza City who had engaged in Criminal activities and Drug Abuse due to their Harsh living conditions.
Mr.Elias was able to separate them to a good and healthy environment which has transformed them to become descent children. who now attend church services and wo
rk for living instead of drug abuses. We should give a helping hand to the people and Organizations which are community based for the betterment of our youths and our community in general.
